- Screen the student for interest in the industry.
- Provide a job shadow in the industry or assist the student with arranging a job shadow.
- If the student is interested in the industry and Youth Apprenticeship, be sure they have related instruction in their schedule or have time to enroll in a CESA #3 academy or a related course at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. This will be paid for by CESA 3 once they are enrolled as a Youth Apprentice. This course will be noted on their YA Checklist that is submitted to DWD.
- Have the student complete the Student Registration form.
- Assist the student with job placement, if needed. Please feel free to use the CESA 3 Career & Life Ready team as a resource if you need assistance finding participating employers.
- Determine the student's related instruction. If applicable, complete the CollEDGE UP Form. CollEDGE UP courses are offered at Southwest Tech for the CNA class, the Auto Tech Academy known as Pistons to Pathways, and other great opportunities. Use the billing code: cesa 3.
- Once a student has secured job placement, complete the Education/Training Agreement (ETA). Students shouldn’t leave the school for work until the ETA is completed and returned. PLEASE be sure an OCCUPATIONAL AREA and PATHWAY are listed on the Student Registration and/or ETA (i.e. Finance/Accounting, or Construction/Electrical Fundamentals).
- For CNA students only - Please give the SIGNED letter about the CNA textbook checkout/and workbook (consumable) to the student so they may pick up the book at the Southwest Tech Bookstore.
That’s it! The CESA 3 Career & Life Ready Team will take care of the rest, monitoring the worksite and work hours with employers, completing the checklists, troubleshooting if necessary, collecting grades from the employer, completing the paperwork with the Department of Workforce Development and applying for the CTE Incentive Grants when students successfully complete the YA program.
