Early Childhood
Early Childhood is defined as the period from birth to eight years old. A time of remarkable brain growth, these years lay the basis for subsequent development.
Early Childhood special education means free, appropriate, specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of a preschool child with a disability, three years of age until the age of eligibility for kindergarten, where instruction is provided in any of the following settings: home, hospitals, institutions, special schools, classrooms, and community childcare or preschool settings, or both.
Purpose of Program:
Early Childhood Services program offers a licensed 808/809 professional to represent districts' interests in providing quality early intervention services to their students.
Program and Service Activities Provided:
• Assist with Child Find screenings.
• Conduct evaluations and provide timely reports.
• Participate in IEPs.
• Consult on EC program options.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction.
• Establish play groups for EC programming.
